How to request deletion

You can ask us to delete your account and the personal data we hold about you at any time, and you do not have to give a reason. To make the request, email privacy@academy.lexverity.co.uk from the email address your account uses, asking us to delete your account and your data. The same instruction and the same address appear inside the study application, under Account, in the panel marked Delete account.

Sending the request from your account's own address is what lets us confirm that the request is genuinely yours. If you can no longer use that address, write from any address, tell us so, and give us the account email address you used: we will verify your identity another way before we delete anything, because acting on an unverified request would itself put your data at risk. Nothing else is needed, and there is no fee.

What deletion removes

Deletion is permanent and it cannot be reversed. Once actioned, your profile, your study progress and scores, your subscription record, your friend connections, and any highlights, notes or scores you have published are all removed together. We cannot restore them afterwards and we cannot send you a copy of them later, so if you want your own copy of your data, ask us for it before you ask us to delete it. You have the right to receive a portable copy under the UK GDPR, and we will provide one on request.

How long it takes

We aim to acknowledge your request within a reasonable period, and to verify and action it promptly. Your account data is deleted within 60 days of the verified request at the latest, which is the retention commitment given in our privacy notice. If anything delays the request, we will tell you why and when it will be completed.

What we have to keep

One category of data survives deletion, and only one. We keep transaction and accounting records for 6 years, because UK tax law requires us to, even after an account is closed. Those records show that a payment happened and what it was for. They are kept for that legal purpose alone, they are not used to contact you, to profile you, or to rebuild your account, and they are deleted once the retention period ends.

Data held on your device

The study application also keeps your progress and preferences in your own browser's local storage, so that it works offline. That data sits on your device rather than on our servers, so deleting your account does not reach it. You can clear it yourself by clearing this site's data in your browser settings, on each device where you have used the application. Our cookie notice sets out exactly what is stored there.

Facebook and Instagram

If you came to us through a Facebook or Instagram page, advert or message, and you want any data associated with that interaction deleted, use the email route above and say that your request relates to Facebook or Instagram. The same verification, the same timescale and the same permanence apply.

Where you have connected a Meta account to an application, you can also remove that connection at Meta's own end, in the Settings and privacy area of your Facebook account, under Apps and websites. Removing the connection there stops any further sharing between the platform and the application. It does not, by itself, delete data we already hold, so if you want that deleted as well, make the request to us directly as set out above.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled it, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or to your local supervisory authority.
